Representative Richard Hanna (R-NY) will endorse Hillary Clinton for president. Hanna explained his decision in an op-ed for Syracuse.com. Calling GOP nominee Donald Trump “narcissistic” and “deeply flawed” Hanna characterizes Trump as a man who took advantage of public welfare “using bankruptcy laws to avoid the consequences of his own choices.”
Like most Republicans, Hanna denounced Trump’s attack on Khizr Khan, the father of the American soldier who died serving his country in Iraq. Unlike most Republicans so far, Hanna has consequently withdrawn his support for the party’s choice of nominee. Hanna explains it very simply, saying Trump fails to display “those qualities I have preached to my two children: kindness, honesty, dignity, compassion and respect.” Hanna is a 65-year-old former businessman. He is a graduate of Reed College and a member of the National Rifle Association.
