The 48 Hours episode ‘Hollywood Secrets’ investigates the 2008 murder of aspiring model and actress Juliana Redding. The 21-year-old beauty was found brutally murdered in her Santa Monica, California apartment. She was beaten and strangled to death. The murderer turned on the gas oven and left a candle lit, a plot to blow the place up. When the police showed up, they were shocked by the amount of DNA left at the crime scene. The DNA belonged to Kelly Soo Park, a real estate broker who worked for orthopedic surgeon Dr. Munir Uwaydah, who dated Redding months before her death.
Park was arrested for Redding’s murder. During her trial, Park’s attorney said Park’s DNA “could have been transferred from items she touched at the home of Dr. Uwaydah.” Park was acquitted by a jury in 2013. Uwaydah was never charged with Redding’s murder and he denies any involvement. In September 2015, Park was arrested. Prosecutors allege that Park and others (including Uwaydah) were involved in an insurance scheme to bill “hundreds of millions of dollars in fraudulent insurance claims.” According to the district attorney’s motion, “investigators found evidence of forged documents on her [Park’s] computer in a folder labeled ‘Pinochio.'” The 48 Hours episode ‘Hollywood Secrets’ will air Saturday, August 3 at 9pm.
