Former New York Mets superstars Dwight “Doc” Gooden and Darryl Strawberry are the subjects of the 30 for 30 film, Doc & Darryl. Since the 1986 World Series, both baseball players have struggled with addiction. Doc says he hasn’t used drugs in five years, and is currently living in Jersey City with his 26-year-old daughter Ashley. (He was married twice.) Strawberry is celebrating ten years of marriage to his third wife, Tracy (nee Boulware). They met at a drug recovery convention.
Darryl and Tracy are now ordained Christian pastors and together they run Strawberry Ministries which is based in Missouri. In addition to running The Darryl Strawberry Foundation, Darryl and Tracy Strawberry are also the authors of The Imperfect Marriage, Help for Those Who Think It’s Over. The 30 for 30 film Doc & Darryl will air July 14 at 9pm on ESPN.
