The Uncle Buck TV series is very similar to the 1989 film Uncle Buck starring the late great John Candy. When parents Will and Cindy Russell find themselves in a pinch for a babysitter, the husband suggests an emergency Plan B — his unreliable, single brother Buck portrayed by Mike Epps. Cindy initially objects, but then caves. Will is portrayed by James Lesure. Cindy is portrayed by Nia Long.
Nia Long is known for her roles on The Divide (Billie Page), House of Lies (Tamra), Big Shots (Katie Graham), Boston Legal (Vanessa Walker), Third Watch (Officer Sasha Monroe), Judging Amy (Andrea Solomon), and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (Lisa Wilkes), among others. Long is also well recognized for her roles in the Big Momma films as Sherri, Are We There Yet? and Are We Done Yet? as Suzanne, and The Best Man movies as Jordan. Uncle Buck airs Tuesdays at 9pm on ABC.
