Uncle Buck the TV series is based on the 1989 film Uncle Buck starring the late great John Candy. The premise is the same: when suburban parents Will and Cindy Russell find themselves in desperate need of a babysitter, Will suggests his brother Buck (Mike Epps). Wife Cindy (Nia Long) objects as Buck is unreliable and shows no discipline. But she eventually caves in and agrees.
Will Russell is portrayed by James Lesure. He’s known for his roles on Blue Bloods (Alex McBride), Mr. Sunshine (Alonzo), Men at Work (Gibbs), Lipstick Jungle with Brooke Shields (Griffin Bell), Las Vegas (Mike Cannon), and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (Captain Boyle), among others. Interesting fact about Lesure: he served in the Air Force Academy before graduating from the University of Southern California where he studied theater. Uncle Buck airs Tuesdays at 9pm on ABC.
