Starbucks is launching an add-in feature in Microsoft Outlook. The idea is to encourage customers to schedule meetings at different Stabucks locations and there’s an added bonus of being able to send Starbucks gift cards via email. The add-in is getting panned by tech magazines including PC World. Blair Hanley Frank of PCWorld writes, among other things: “Nothing says ‘I vaguely appreciate you in a professional manner’ quite like a Starbucks gift card.”
On Facebook Tom Bunzel points out the weakness of Microsoft Outlook: “Just remember that every add-in makes this already bloated unstable program even more unstable. As soon as Outlook crashes or hangs (which it does frequently) the first thing recommended is to disable add-ins.”
