Jesse L. Matthew, Jr. has pleaded guilty to the murders of college students Hannah Graham (University of Virginia, 2014) and Morgan Harrington (Virginia Tech, 2009). There have been a number of cases of young women who have disappeared in the Charlottesville area over the years. According to CBS News, the FBI did look into the possibility that Matthew was involved in other disappearances including that of 17-year-old Alexis Murphy who vanished in 2014. A man named Randy Taylor was found guilty of Murphy’s murder.
Matthew’s attorney, Doug Ramseur, said of the FBI looking into Matthew: “I have no information on that, no reason to believe that is the case, and it would be ridiculous to believe so.” 48 Hours, which airs Saturdays at 9pm on CBS, will air its investigation of the death of Hannah Graham on June 12.
