Howard Stern has been a judge on America’s Got Talent, but he has never moderated a political debate — until now. Stern had Bernie Sanders debate Donald Trump on his show, and it was as funny as a real debate between the real candidates might have been. Anthony Atamanuik and James Adomian busted out their best Trump Sanders voice action for the scene. And the two carnival barkers/presidential candidates came alive on the air.
Sanders, as Larry David and others have proved, is great fun to knock off. And such impersonating eminences as Meryl Streep have given us brilliant Trump takes. But this gag, with Stern as the moderator — “the only one both campaigns” could agree on — brings out the best caricatures yet of our troubled nation’s leading political lights. On topics ranging from ISIS to dating famous women, it’s a riot — and not the kind Trump encourages at his rallies.
