Billionaire Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban knows momentum when he sees it — he famously cashed out at exactly the right time before the original dotcom bust. Maybe that’s why Cuban, asked by NBC’s Chuck Todd for his NBA playoff insight, picked the Thunder to win it all. “You know, I’m going to take a little bit of a long shot here and go with the Thunder,” he said. That was just hours before the Thunder made it look like they aren’t a long shot at all, annihilating the defending champion Golden State Warriors 133-105 in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. (Cuban’s Mavs won the NBA title in 2011.)
Cuban was busy talking with NBC’s Chuck Todd on Meet The Press about a range of topics far beyond basketball. Probably the most newsworthy — for non-Thunder fans — was Cuban’s admission that he’d consider being Hillary Clinton’s running mate. Not surprising really, given what Cuban has said about Clinton recently.
