Below is a response from Halyard Health‘s Global Corporate Communciations spokesperson, Edward Domansky, addressing concerns about the company’s MICROCOOL gowns safety.
We were contacted by 60 Minutes to participate in a story about Ebola and Personal Protective Equipment based on litigation claims regarding our MICROCOOL gowns. We strongly disagree with these accusations and firmly stand behind the safety and efficacy of our product.
Our MICROCOOL gowns have an extraordinary safety record. We have sold over 58 million gowns with not one complaint of injury due to barrier protection. Our quality, as measured by feedback from doctors and nurses, is outstanding. Our complaint rate on our MICROCOOL gown is also exceptional – less than one complaint of strikethrough per million gowns sold. Thousands of our gowns are used every day by doctors and nurses in the field who have overwhelmingly endorsed our MICROCOOL gown.
We are confident that our MICROCOOL gowns have always been and are today safe and effective.
