If you love watching body builders pump iron and/or listening to the voice of Sylvester Stallone, you’re going to love the new reality fitness competition show produced and narrated by Sly, Strong. The series premiere episode “Balls to the Wall” will introduce the all-male staff of professional trainers and their all-female trainees (mostly married with kids) who will get emotional at times. Every week the teams train and compete until one team wins (up to $500,000).
[Gabrielle Reece wrote the book, My Foot Is Too Big for the Glass Slipper: A Guide to the Less Than Perfect Life]
The host of Strong is professional volleyball player Gabrielle Reece. The 6’3″ Reece played at Florida State University and launched a modeling career before playing volleyball professionally. Her four-person team took first place at the first-ever Beach Volleyball World Championships at UCLA. She held the record for kills in the Women’s Beach Volleyball League (WBVL) for four consecutive years (1993-1996). After volleyball she trained for the LPGA but didn’t make it due to time constraints — she is married to surfer Laird Hamilton with whom she’s raising three young children. Strong premieres Wednesday, April 13 at 9pm on NBC. Its regular time is Thursdays at 8pm.
