60 Minutes is reporting on the booming movie industry in China where studios are producing more than 600 feature films a year. As a result, 22 new movie screens open every day in the China. Box office sales have increased 350 percent over the past five years. According to new 60 Minutes correspondent Holly Williams, the pace of production is astonishing.
For her report, Williams interviews one of China’s leading ladies Li Bingbing, who is considered China’s version of Angelina Jolie. Oddly, this Angelina Jolie comparison doesn’t belong only to Li Bingbing: Fan Bingbing, the fourth highest paid actress in the world, also hears that title sometimes. Fan Bingbing, who played Blink in the American film X-Men: Days of Future Past, trailed only Jennifer Lawrence ($52M), Scarlett Johansson ($35.5M), and Melissa McCarthy ($23M) in 2015, according to Forbes. To clear up confusion about the two highly accomplished Bingbings for American movie fans:
- Li Bingbing portrayed Su Yueming in Transformers: Age of Extinction and Ada Wong in Resident Evil: Retribution. She will appeared next in Nest with Kelsey Grammer.
- Fan Bingbing portrayed mutant Blink in X-Men: Days of Future Past. She will appeared next in Skiptrace with Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville.
Williams’ interview with Li Bingbing will air April 10 at 7pm on CBS. 60 Minutes airs Sundays at 7pm on CBS.
