Filmmaker Tyler Perry is narrating a musical production of the last days of Jesus Christ on FOX. The Passion will follow Jesus from the Last Supper to the Resurrection. The twist is: the story takes place on the streets of New Orleans and is told via contemporary pop songs. There will be a number of familiar famous faces including singers Seal as Pontius Pilate and Trisha Yearwood as Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Jesus Christ is portrayed by JenCarlos Canela. The 27-year-old from Miami currently stars in Eva Longoria’s sitcom Telenovela as Xavier Castillo. Canela is also known for his roles on Más sabe el diablo, Doña Bárbara, and Pecados Ajenos, among others. The Passion airs Sunday, March 20 at 8pm on FOX.
