In The Simpsons episode “Lisa the Veterinarian,” while Marge works as a crime scene cleaner to make extra cash, Lisa has an epiphany. While performing CPR on a raccoon, Lisa realizes she wants to become a veterinarian. She takes the idea a step further and interns at an animal clinic, where she works with Dr. Budgie.
Dr. Budgie is portrayed by Michael York. The British, Oxford educated actor is best known for his roles in the Austin Powers films (Basil Exposition), Logan’s Run (Logan), The Three Musketeers (D’Artagnan), and Cabaret (Brian Roberts), among other films. York is also recognized for his roles on TV including Gilmore Girls (Asher Fleming), Curb Your Enthusiasm (as himself), and Knots Landing (Charles Scott). Fun fact: This isn’t York’s first appearance on The Simpsons. In 2006, he provided the voice of Mason Fairbanks in the episode “Homer’s Paternity Coot.” The Simpsons airs Sundays at 8pm on FOX.
