If you think putting 12 women together in one room – women who thrive on drama, who make their living initiating drama on reality TV shows – is a bad idea, you’re probably right. It’s so bad that it’s good. At least, that’s what Lifetime is betting on in their group therapy show The Mother/Daughter Experiment: Celebrity Edition. The group is led by therapist Dr. Debbie Magids.
The six pairs of women include six celebrities and either their mother or daughter. The troubled star of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Kim Richards will be there with her daughter Kimberly, and Heidi Montag (The Hills) will be there with her mother Darlene. All of the celebs are known for high drama but Courtney Stodden wins best storyline as she reveals that her former manager, mother Krista Keller, fell in love with Courtney’s husband, actor Doug Hutchinson (The Green Mile, Batman & Robin, Shaft). Courtney married Hutchinson when she was 16. He was 51 at the time, and her mother approved. Since their marriage, Courtney and Doug appeared on Couples Therapy in 2012. Then Courtney competed on the British show Celebrity Big Brother (2013). She also starred in 50 Cent’s “Don’t Worry ‘Bout It” music video and in sex tape that she created on her own. In 2015, Courtney dropped her mother as her manager and is now represented by Rich Kid Mafia. The Mother/Daughter Experiment: Celebrity Edition airs Tuesdays at 10pm on Lifetime.
