University of California–Davis student Chris Johnson is the inventor behind Rapid Ramen Cooker. It’s a tray that cooks Ramen noodles in the microwave in just four minutes. It uses half the water and half the seasoning, and it’s reusable. (The Rapid Ramen Cooker is dishwasher safe.) What’s special about the product is its “patented reservoir design that circulates the water providing perfect heat distribution.”

With thousands of units selling in Sacramento Walmarts in 2013, Johnson pitched his business on Shark Tank, where he made a deal with Mark Cuban. Rapid Ramen Cooker has extended its line — the patented technology works well for preparing more than just the old college student favorite Ramen noodles. It’s great for rice, oatmeal, mac and cheese, and more. All of the Rapid Ramen products – including Rapid Mac Cooker (mac and cheese), Rapid Rice Cooker, and Rapid Oatmeal Cooker – are available on Amazon. On average a 2-pack of Rapid Ramen cooker goes for $10.99.
