Middle Tennessee shocked the basketball world with its round one dismissal of the mighty Spartans of Michigan State. The 15 seed has beaten the 2 seed just eight times in the history of the NCAA men’s championship — only Richmond, Santa Clara, Coppin St, Hampton, Norfolk St, Lehigh and Florida Gulf Coast have pulled it off before. None of those became champions, but Middle Tennessee is hellbent on further destruction. The Blue Raiders enjoy it.
Witness the glee they took not just in sending Tom Izzo home, but in causing general chaos among bracket pickers nationwide. Heck, globally. (See tweet below: “We just broke every bracket in the world.”) This is one proud squad, and they’re out for more bracket wreckage. Michigan State was, BTW, a 16.5 point favorite. And after the Blue Raiders finish playing ball, the seniors will all graduate — see pic above.
We just broke every bracket in the world. RAIDERS WIN! RAIDERS WIN! RAIDERS WIN! Final Score: MT 90, MSU 81
