Dan Mackey of Sausalito, California is the inventor of Chill Soda, a low glycemic organic soda that has vitamins and antioxidants — and only 85 calories per can. After selling 250,000 cans worth of Chill Soda, he pitched the business on Shark Tank in 2009. The big mistake Mackey made during his pitch was to admit to not knowing the beverage industry. Luckily for him, Mackey’s honesty appealed to investor Barbara Corcoran who invested $50,000 for 20 percent equity.

There are four flavors advertised on the Chill Soda website – kola, pome, guava, and limon – but none are available for online purchase yet. According to Mackey’s LinkedIn account, he’s still working on Chill Soda via Healthy Soda, Inc. and also working on an online investing trading platform called SecondTrades.com.
