Husband and wife team Andy Hurwitz and Heather Murphy-Monteith are the founders of Baby Loves Disco. Based in Philadelphia, they plan disco parties for kids. When Baby Loves Disco started hitting $525,000 in annual sales, they decided they wanted to expand the business to other cities, so they pitched their business on Shark Tank in 2013.

On the show, the potential investors expressed concern that most of the revenue came from sponsorship deals (Honest Kids, H&M), not ticket sales or merchandise. Baby Loves Disco didn’t get a deal on Shark Tank. But that didn’t stop the enterprising couple and their company. Baby Loves Disco has since expanded to the UK and Japan and they continue to tour. This spring, Baby Loves Disco is coming to Gilda’s Laugh Fest in Grand Rapids and to the San Francisco Zoo in June, among others.
