Lil’ Wayne probably doesn’t need a new apartment. But more Americans rent than own, and apartments.com knows a lot of those renters will be watching the Super Bowl. Those watchers will see the rapper with a sense of humor chillin’ with George Washington. The spot is called The Teeth, tagged with the #MovinOnUp theme — and in the first teaser GW flashes a smile that delights Lil’ Wayne. “Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about, George,” Wayne says to the founding father, whose discarded wooden teeth are on the table. The new teeth, btw, look like they might cause some misunderstandings. (Buns?) One thing’s for sure: Lil’ Wayne looks like a big star. Camera loves him.
The Super Bowl ad is a 60-second spot with a choir belting out — Greek Chorus style — the old Jeffersons theme song — yup, movin’ on up. (George Jefferson used to yell “Weezy”, Lil’ Wayne’s nickname. Double Georges, double Weezy, Jefferson, Washington — it’s rich material to mine here for apartments.com.) Wayne and Washington do some grillin’ in a clearly deluxe apartment in the sky. Should be fun.
