Now that Derek Fisher is no longer employed in the NBA, will his sworn enemy Matt Barnes — who is still employed — still wait to confront him? The two men are acute angles in a love triangle involving Fisher’s girlfriend — who is also Barnes’s estranged wife (Gloria Govan). Barnes and Fisher came to blows over the situation last year. The NBA suspended Barnes for two games after the altercation, noting Barnes was the aggressor. Being the aggressor is not something Barnes has any interest in denying — asked if he’s talked to Fisher since, Barnes said, “I don’t talk to snakes.”
Barnes is also quoted as saying, concerning how to handle his Fisher anger: “violence is never the answer. But sometimes it is.” Barnes also said “Now I got to keep my mouth shut because then he’ll run and tell… when I’m retired, him and I will cross paths again.” Fisher was fired by the New York Knicks this week. But Barnes, whose suspension came with a $35,000 fine, is still playing NBA ball for the Memphis Grizzlies. Sounds like Barnes will wait and save himself some money, even though Fisher just lost his job — and some of his protective armor.
