CJ “Chris” Johnson from Memphis, Tennessee is one of the 11 male singers who made it to the Top 24 on the fifteenth and final season of American Idol. When not singing solo, CJ is playing guitar and singing lead vocals in his band American Fiction. Story goes CJ sent a demo tape of his band’s song “Dumb Luck” to legendary rock producer Eddie Kramer who’s worked with Rock and Rock Hall of Famers including the Beatles, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones. To CJ’s surprise, Kramer listened to it and liked it.
“It was my better half who said, you better listen to this,” says Kramer. “I called Chris, and I think he was a bit apoplectic that I’d actually called him.” Kramer produced American Fiction’s debut album “Dumb Luck“ which was released in 2014.
