Katherine Krug of Las Vegas, Nevada has created BetterBack, a product that can improve posture and therefore relieve back pain. On average, Americans sit about nine hours a day. Krug says of those who do, approximately 90 percent will experience back pain at some point. She says, “When we hunch and slump, it affects our mood, and happiness, even how optimistic we feel.”
[BetterBack can be ordered on the Shopify BetterBack site]
After spending so much time and money on doctors, pillow products, and therapy visits, Krug created her own solution, BetterBack. She says her device, which can fit in a purse, can work in 5 minutes flat and teaches you how to sit properly. BetterBack includes a padded back with straps that wrap around one’s legs and knees. Krug suggests using it while sitting at your desk, on an airplane, watching TV — whenever you’re just sitting. BetterBack is available on the website for $59. You can see Krug pitch BetterBack on Shark Tank (February 26) which airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC. (There is also a lot of competition out there.)
