Shadowhunters is a new fantasy TV series about human-angel hybrids that hunt demons. The protagonist is Clary Fray who joins a group of Shadowhunters in order to rescue her mother who was abducted by a demon. The show is based on the novels collected under the title The Mortal Instruments written by Cassandra Clare. The 42-year-old was born Judith Rumelt to American parents in Tehran, Iran in 1973 during the Great Oil Shock. Her father is Professor Richard Rumelt of UCLA Anderson School of Management.
The family moved back to the States where Clare went to high school. That was about the time she started writing fan fiction usng the name Cassandra Clare. She currently lives in Amherst, Massachusetts with her husband Joshua Lewis. Clare’s next book in the Shadowhunter Chronicles series is Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices). It will be released on March 8, 2016.
