On the TV special Nashville: On the Record 3, fans get a look at the real lives of the actors/musicians as they tour the country singing the songs from the show. There will also be a number of interviews with behind-the-scenes people including Nashville’s executive producer Steve Buchanan, and Lennon and Maisy’s (Maddie and Daphne Conrad) real life parents, Brad and Marylynne Stella, who prove that real life is sometimes more interesting than TV.
Born and raised in Canada, Brad and Marylynne met when they were both 20 years old. Back then they worked as janitors during the day and performed at night in cover bands. They eventually fell in love, got married and became the musical duo, The Stellas. When they had the chance to appear on the CMT show Can You Duet? they moved to Nashville and never looked back. They got a record deal with EMI Canada and took home the Canadian CMA “Duo of the Year’ award in 2013, the same year they toured with the Zac Brown Band. Brad Stella wrote the song “Let It Rain” with Zac’s for his EP The Grohl Sessions, Vol. 1 (It’s the only song on the album that Dave Grohl plays drums on.) The Stellas released their album It Wouldn’t Be This in May 2015. Nashville: On the Record 3 will air December 16 at 10pm on ABC.
