Jill and Jessa Duggar of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting are starring in their own spinoff series, Jill & Jessa: Counting On. It should be a happy time for the two sisters who are now married — they go by Jill Dillard and Jessa Seewald now — and are new mothers. But the series was filmed during the family scandal. Brother Josh Duggar, a Christian “family values” advocate, was forced to admit that as a teenager he molesting children (including his sisters Jill and Jessa) and as an adult has cheated on his wife, Anna, the mother of his four children.

The premiere of Jill & Jessa: Counting On will roll out over a three-part series which includes candid interviews with the young women and some of their siblings. During one interview, little sister Jinger, 21, talks about the family scandal caused by Josh. “We got word that something new had come out,” Jinger says. “It was so unreal. We still have trouble comprehending it today.” She explains, “The reality of this – this person we thought we knew – this person that we loved greatly, we still love – but just the hard pain that it caused…” Jinger cries. She couldn’t continue her sentence. Jill & Jessa: Counting On premieres on TLC on December 13 at 8pm.
