Former child actress Kim Fields (Tootie on The Facts of Life) was already famous before she joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. That’s a rarity in the Real Housewives franchise. Most — not all, but most — of the women become famous after appearing on the show. Compared to Atlanta’s Phaedra Parks, whose husband is in jail, and Porsha Williams who physically attacked Cynthia Bailey, Fields is downright boring. She’s happily married with two kids. She packs their lunches and goes on play dates. When she travels to Miami with the Real Housewives of Atlanta, she brings a book. A book!
[Who Is Tammy McCall Browning on ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’?]
Fields says she did her homework before agreeing to be on Real Housewives but she’s still shocked by the amount of drama that’s generated by the ladies, particularly by Kenya Moore, the woman who coined the tagline “Gone With the Wind Fabulous.” After the Miami trip, which got out of hand (punches between two men were thrown, Tammy was hurt), Kim and Kenya meet over breakfast. Kenya makes the mistake of calling out Kim for leaving Miami early. “I do see there’s a bit of a struggle between you and home,” says Kenya. Kim sets her straight. Kim says she didn’t leave Miami because she missed her husband — she left because she didn’t feel safe. Kim clarified for Kenya, “When you provoke somebody and accuse them of things, that’s not something I’m going to take part of.” If Fields lives up to her word, she won’t be on the show much longer. Provoking people and accusing them of stuff is the premise of the show. Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays at 8pm on Bravo.
