On the Code Black episode “Buen Árbol,” while Dr. Christa Lorenson (Bonnie Somerville) bonds with illegal immigrant Flora Saracho (Vanessa Martinez) whose son Pablo (Julian Zane) is diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, Dr. Angus Leighton (Harry M. Ford) employs his background in psychology to help a patient, Dorothy, who doesn’t remember how she injured herself and others.
Dorothy is portrayed by June Squibb. She’s best known for her roles in the films Nebraska (Kate Grant, Will Forte’s mom), About Schmidt (Helen Schmidt, Jack Nicholson’s wife), Scent of a Woman (Mrs. Hunsaker), and Meet Joe Black (Helen). Squibb is also recognized for her roles on TV shows including Mom (Dottie), Devious Maids (Velma Mudge), Ghost Whisperer (Grandma), and Judging Amy (Louise Flowers), among others.
