On the “Tell All” special episode of Sister Wives, Meri Brown, one of polygamist Kody Brown’s four wives, admits to being catfished. She says she was meeting lots of people on social media when she connected with a man named Sam Cooper — at least she believed it was a man. “He said all the right things,” Meri explains. “Being kind and very compassionate, and understanding.” The man Meri trusted is really a 40-year-old woman named Jackie Overton in Osage County, Oklahoma.

Meri tries to further explain: “There were times when I would be talking to him and he would have a temper tantrum of sorts and hang up the phone. Then I’d get calls from the female friend of “Sam” who would say ‘you better fix this and call him and tell him how much you love him.’” Meri recalls: “I felt in a place that I just had to do whatever it was that they said.” Sister Wives airs Sundays at 8pm on TLC.
