Third-year Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell suffered a probably season-ending MCL injury. Bell was quick to thank supporters who flooded his various social media feeds with well-wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery. Bell is treasured in Pittsburgh — and by fantasy football competitors everywhere — because of his style of play and style of interacting with fans. And because, well, he loves his mom. (Note: fantasy football players are concerned only with the “style of play” part.)
Bell reached out to fans on Twitter in response to the outpouring with a quick note saying he appreciates “the concern and support from everybody who’s sent me txts, tweets, phone calls, etc” and shouting out “love you all!” (Bell is rehabbing his rep a bit, after being suspended for marijuana possession earlier this year.) A clue to how Bell mixes football domination and his emphasis on Christian comportment off-field can be found in his Twitter description, where Bell says he’s “just here to love the Lord and to be a better man than the next man.” See that “better than the next man”? Bell makes even being a good man a competitive event. He wants to beat you at that, too.
I appreciate the concern and support from everybody who’s sent me txts, tweets, phone calls, etc…I’ll be okayy, love youu all! #Juice
