On the sitcom The Grinder, attorney Stewart Sanderson (Fred Savage) and his wife Deb (Mary Elizabeth Ellis) befriend golden couple Lyle and Vanessa Gerhart (Alexie Gilmore). The Gerharts invite the Sandersons to a charity event but now Stewart and Deb wonder if the Gerharts only like them to get to Stewart’s famous brother, TV star Dean Sanderson (Rob Lowe).

Lyle Gerhart is portrayed by the hilarious Nat Faxon. He started out as a “groundling” in the LA improv comedy club and provides funny voices for several animated shows including Robot Chicken, Family Guy, The Cleveland Show (Raymond the Bear) and Nickelodeon’s Blaze and the Monster Machines. He’s also known for his character Milk Shake on Reno 911! Oh, and he won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for director Alexander Payne’s The Descendants which starred George Clooney. (See video below of Faxon and co-writer Jim Rash accepting the award from Angelina Jolie, whom they mocked for striking a pose in her thigh-high slitted dress.) P.S. Faxon is married to Meaghan Gadd, daughter of Eric Clapton’s drummer Steve Gadd. The Grinder airs Tuesdays at 8:30pm on Fox.
