Howard Stern says he hated how he looked on America’s Got Talent and that it became depressing. Trying to disprove the old adage that some people just have a “face for radio” Stern says he thought TV would be fun at first. But then his vanity took over. Despite spending six figures on new clothes — from John Varvatos, btw — and hiring a hair specialist, Stern tells Jimmy Kimmel: “I turn on the TV each week and I want to throw up.”

Stern even admits he was working out, but sitting next to supermodel Heidi Klum made him feel his old insecurities. Stern wanted to fit in, he says, but ultimately he didn’t. “I still look like a nightmare,” Stern decided. But of course he said all this while on TV. So you decide. His hair looks sort of nice, no? For a radio guy? “It was torturous,” says Stern. “I hated every bit of it.”
