Daniel “Boobie” Gibson, once a fresh-faced Cleveland Cavaliers guard thisclose to winning an NBA championship, has hung up his Nikes to pursue a hip-hop career. The hooper cum hip-hopper was interviewed on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, where he said he could still play in the NBA — that he had options — but that his health and passion for music told him to turn the corner.
Gibson played seven seasons with the Cavs and was along for the ride during LeBron James‘s first run with the team. The Texas native last played an NBA game in 2013. In 2008 he signed a five-year contract that paid him $21 million.
