On the quiet street of Hot Springs Drive in Augusta, Georgia, Laverne “Kay” Parsons and Rebecca Bowers Sears lived next door to each other. They weren’t just best friends, they were also colleagues. They worked together at the same physical therapy office. When Rebecca started having an affair with Kay’s husband David, Rebecca decided she wanted Kay out of the picture.
Rebecca Bowers Sears asked her 20-year-son Christopher Bowers to kill Kay Parsons. And he did. Police found Parsons’ body in her garage. To shake the police off the their trail, mother and son staged a shooting just days later. Christopher shot his mother in the leg outside of the physical therapy office where Rebecca was leaving. Rebecca Bowers Sears and Christopher Bowers were both sentenced to life in prison. Dateline NBC will re-air its investigative report on October 24 at 8pm on NBC.
