The University of St. Francis is located on the South Side of Chicago. It has a student body of about 3,000 and isn’t known for producing NFL players. But wide receiver Troy Torrence is trying to change St. Francis history. “Coming out of St. Francis and going into the NFL is unlikely,” admits Torrence. “Some people would argue it’s impossible.” But with the help of former NFL player turned trainer Kevin Kasper, Torrence is going for it. Torrence says of Kasper, former wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, “When I met him, my work ethic went through the ceiling.”
[Where Is Quarterback Cole Jaeschke From ‘NFL: Undrafted’?]
Although Torrence studied accounting at St. Francis, he says he doesn’t see himself doing anything else but playing football. Still it’s good preparation: if Torrence can make it, there will be plenty of accounting to do. Troy Torrence is one of the football players featured in the NFL Network series NFL: Undrafted which premieres on September 22 (Tuesdays at 8pm). Episodes will be reshown after every Thursday Night Football postgame show. CBS is airing a sneak peek on September 16 at 10pm.
