On Doctor Who, The Doctor (Matt Smith) and Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) meet post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. They find him in 1890 France and then take him to the future. They lead him into the Musée d’Orsay in Paris where his paintings hang. Of course seeing all of his paintings hanging in the museum is a big shock as Van Gogh struggled to sell a single painting while he was alive. Plus, everyone in the gallery is talking on cell phones and looking at iPods.
