If you’re looking for some serious baby mama drama before the summer runs out, tune in to watch BET’s TV movie, Let the Church Say Amen. Based on ReShonda Tate Billingsley’s bestselling novel, Let the Church Say Amen is about 21-year-old single mom Rachel Jackson (Naturi Naughton). She thinks if she marries the father of her child, she’ll gain the respect of her preacher father, Reverend Simon T. Jackson. But of course that plan backfires.
[Who Is Baby Mama Rachel In BET’s ‘Let the Church Say Amen’?]
Rachel’s father has one of the best lines in the movie (from the pulpit): “My message this morning is titled: God can bless a hot mess. Amen!” Or it could be just the delivery provided by veteran actor Steve Harris. He’s best known for his roles as Eugene Young on The Practice, Virgil Merriweather on Friday Night Lights, and more recently as Nelson Gates on Legends. Fun fact about Harris: he earned his BA from Northern Illinois University (where he played football) and then earned his Masters of Fine Arts degree in Theater from the University of Delaware. Let the Church Say Amen premieres on BET on August 29 at 8pm.
