On the Season 3 finale of Rectify, Daniel Talbot (Aden Young) and his mother Janet take a road trip to Nashville. Over dinner, Daniel thanks his mother for the money she’s given him. “It’s your money, Daniel. It always was,” she says sweetly. At the dinner table, she pulls out the checkbook and passes the ATM card to him. She whispers the PIN: “It’s Amantha’s birthday.”
Janet is portrayed by J. Smith-Cameron. She’s best known for her roles as Melinda Mickens on True Blood, and Ramona Luchesse on The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd. She’s also been in several movies including Harriet the Spy, The Rage: Carrie 2, and You Can Count on Me with Laura Linney and Mark Ruffalo. Smith-Cameron’s husband, Kenneth Lonergan, wrote and directed the film. Smith-Cameron and Ruffalo reunited for Lonergan’s 2011 film, Margaret, starring Anna Paquin. Rectify airs Thursdays at 10pm on Sundance.
