Cordell Broadus, son of legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, is the real deal according to recruits. But the sought-after wide receiver just quit the UCLA football team. Head coach Jim Mora said “Cordell is an amazing young man with many talents, and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues to pursue his degree at UCLA.” Broadus never suited up for preseason camp. For him, practicing in pads obviously paled in comparison to making movies — which is what he’s studying.
It’s been a rough month for big time rappers’ sons playing football at UCLA. Broadus went peacefully — indeed with the coach’s blessing. That wasn’t the case for rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs’ son Justin Combs, who wasn’t as sought-after a recruit. Combs left the UCLA team after his father allegedly attacked a coach with a kettlebell this summer. But now Combs the younger, a red-shirt junior, is back on the field for Mora’s Bruins. He just won’t be practicing with Cordell Broadus.
