Dave Burd is a white rapper who goes by the moniker Lil Dicky. He grew up in an upper middle class Jewish family outside of Philadelphia. He’s never had to struggle, and he doesn’t pretend struggle is a part of his story. In fact, that is his story. In his latest single “Professional Rapper,” he gives a run down of his upbringing to Snoop Dogg, who’s interviewing Lil Dicky to become a professional rapper. Lil Dicky says he’s not in it (rap) for the money, he just wants to be one of the greats.
In the cartoon video for the song, the former ad man (copywriter at Goodby Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco) persuades Snoop to hear him out. Lil Dicky’s pitch about targeting the “anti-rap” population with his standup comedy kind of rap works. In the end, Lil Dicky gets a job…and some head.
