On the historic battleship USS Iowa, military members (active duty and retired) are trying to qualify for American Ninja Warrior. One of them is Dustin McKinney, aka “Navy McNinja,” a 5’2” lieutenant, junior grade, in the US Navy. This is his second go at the obstacle course. He competed in the Miami tryouts last year but didn’t make it past the spider climb.

Everyone in August, Georgia, where McKinney is currently stationed and awaiting his next deployment, is rooting for him. He even has a local sponsor! McKinney’s watching the military qualifying round of American Ninja Warrior at his local Buffalo Wild Wings. The restaurant is donating 10 percent of sales to the Navy Ball. American Ninja Warrior airs Mondays at 8pm on NBC.
