Kyle Anderson played in 33 regular season games for the San Antonio Spurs last season, averaging almost 11 minutes and 2.2 points per contest. The 6’9″ UCLA product, who also spent time in the developmental league, seems like a natural fit for the Spurs based on court sense alone (see the pass below). The revamped Spurs welcome a host of returning stars and a new north star in LaMarcus Aldridge for what looks like a continuation of the Spurs dynasty.
But historically the dynasty (18 straight playoff appearances, five championships) is built not just on the Duncans, Parkers and (now) Aldridges. But on players like Danny Green, Bruce Bowen and Boris Diaw. Anderson fits the latter role now, and could grow into one of the chief options too. He was just named MVP of the Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 22 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals. The Spurs already have three NBA Finals MVPs (Duncan, Parker, Leonard) on the team. They chant MVP in San Antonio these days, they could be talking about anybody…
