Jeremy Lin said the free agent process “wasn’t always smooth,” but that “out of nowhere Charlotte came up and.. we just felt like ‘this is the right place to be.'” In an interview with TWC News in Charlotte, Lin said about landing in Charlotte: “We prayed about it, thought about it and felt, like, man this is great.”

Lin admits he doesn’t “really know much about Charlotte.” Though he’s always liked it. “The vibe was very chill, very laid back… not a metropolis.” The last factor may have been as important as anything else for Lin, who would like a chance to hone his game to its full potential without the glare of big city lights. (New York, Houston and Los Angeles — Lin’s last three stops — no one calls “very laid back.”) Lin even looks more relaxed in his new place. And he’s got a very specific goal, one which Charlotte team owner Michael Jordan hopes he’ll fulfill. Lin says very clearly that when his career is over, if people are still talking about Linsanity then he probably hasn’t “done his job.” He says he’s looking forward to creating new memories. It seems Jeremy Lin has fully, happily gone to Carolina in his mind.
