The real life Gone Girl kidnapping case in Vallejo, California, just got weirder. In March, when Denise Huskins’s boyfriend, Aaron Quinn, called police to report that she had been abducted from his home, the police announced it was a hoax. They said there was “no evidence to support the claims.” But now they’ve arrested a suspect, Matthew Muller.
Muller, who has pleaded not guilty, is a 38-year-old former Marine who says he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. After serving in the Marines from 1995 to 1999, Muller graduated from Harvard Law School in 2006. He then worked at the Kerosky, Purves & Bogue law firm in San Francisco. According to ABC News, he has since been disbarred. ABC’s 20/20 will air a special report on Huskins and Muller on July 17 at 10pm.
