Cailyn Mathis is the 16-year-old dancer who is competing on America’s Got Talent. She started dancing when she was just two years old. She started competing at age 4. She’s currently a student at Avon High School, which isn’t too far from Center Stage Dance Studio in Northfield, Ohio, where Cailyn practices three to five times a week.

So how was Cailyn discovered? America’s Got Talent’s new dance scout Cris Judd espied Cailyn at a dance competition in Chicago in November. Judd is Jennifer Lopez’s ex-husband. After directing her music video “Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” Judd and Lopez married on September 29, 2001. (They filed for divorce eight months later.) Mathis plans to go to college for dance in JLo’s old neighborhood. According to The Chronicle-Telegram, she’s looking at Fordham University — in the Bronx. America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
