Officials try hard to get the cyclists to stop taking performance enhancing drugs at the Tour de France, but the bikes themselves are exempt from this rule. And no bike looks more like it’s been dipping into Lance Armstrong’s secret bag than the S-Works Venge ViAS from Specialized. Specialized boasts that the S-Works Venge ViAS is the “fastest bike in the world.”
Specialized’s Chris Riekert says on Instagram: “Today we introduced the new 2016 Venge ViAS along with a new S-Works Shoe (2 pairs of shoes in fact!), Roval CLX64 wheels, S-Works Turbo 22mm tire, and S-Works Evade Skinsuit. If you want to learn more about how you can be 5minutes faster.” That’s five minutes faster over 40K, just by using this bike instead of the one you’re on now. There’s a special online measuring tool called “The Venge Finder” that will help you measure your bike and, as Riekert says, “build your cockpit.” Good thing, too, because this bike can fly. The 2015 Tour de France begins July 4. The S-Works Venge ViAS from Specialized is listed at $12,500.
