The new NBC cop drama Aquarius is set in 1960s California. The protagonist is a homicide detective named Sam Hodiak (portrayed by David Duchovny, Californication, The X-Files). Hodiak tries to track down Charles Manson and the Manson family before they go all Helter Skelter on a murder spree.
Charles Manson is portrayed by Englishman Gethin Anthony. After graduating from Oxford University’s Balliol College with a degree in English literature, Anthony enrolled in the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He’s worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Old Vic. He’s played Cyrano at the Oxford Playhouse. Americans will recognize him as Renly Baratheon in the HBO series Game of Thrones. A special two-hour premiere of Aquarius airs Thursday, May 28 at 9pm on NBC.
