Actor Taye Diggs is best known for his TV roles, most recently on The Good Wife and Murder in the First. But he’s been in tons of productions on Broadway too including Carousel, Rent, Chicago, and Wicked. And now Diggs is coming back to the Great White Way. He will be the first African American actor to play the lead in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. His 12-week engagement at the Belasco Theatre will start on July 22.
Hedwig premiered on Broadway on March 29, 2014 with Neil Patrick Harris in the title role. Harris won a Tony Award for Best Lead Actor in a Musical. Hedwig is an East German transgender singer who leads a fictional rock and roll band called the Angry Inch.
