Young English filmmaker Gil Kenan has given Steven Spielberg’s 1982 original haunted house film Poltergeist a modern makeover. The scenario is very similar. A family of five moves into a big house in the suburbs that is inhabited with poltergeists. The young child, a daughter with adorable bangs and freckles, is the first to make contact.
According to IGN, the reboot is “a shorter, more aggressive Poltergeist.” The action is ramped up so quickly that the reboot is “stripped of much of the original’s heart.” The film stars Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt as the parents. Poltergeist will haunt the aisles of theaters on May 22.
