Singer/songwriter Nate Ruess of the band FUN will perform his hit “Nothing Without Love” on The Voice on Monday, May 11 at 8pm on NBC. The song is from Ruess’ first solo album Grand Romantic, which will be released on June 16. Fans are giving the song a thumb’s up. Some say he sounds like Freddie Mercury from Queen. Some say Nothing Without Love is like a nod to “If Work Permits” by the Format.
Superfan Amanda Atkinson disagrees with the Format comment. “I don’t think it’s necessarily a nod, but I think Nate sticks to a lot of similar themes, which makes analyzing and studying his lyrics so cool because they tell stories.” Here are some of the lyrics to Nothing Without Love:
Oh baby, show me a sign
Send up a signal that everything’s fine
Come on, come one, come on right by my side
Don’t you know that I, don’t you know that I
I wanna rest in your light
I wanna rest in your light
I wanna rest in your light
I wanna rest in your light
‘Cause I am, I’m nothing without love
